Privacy Policy

Ugly Duckling Workshops app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Effective October 27, 2026.

In short

The app has no ads, no tracking and no analytics. It does not ask for your name, email, location, contacts or photos. What you write in the lessons stays on your device. If you choose to create an account, your answers are encrypted on your device with your passphrase before they are stored, so no one else can read them, including us.

What the app keeps on your device

Your answers to lesson prompts, the lessons you mark done, your certificate name if you make one, and a random session number that lets the server know your device. You can share a copy of your answers from Me > My work at any time.

What the server keeps

• A random session number for each device, and the time it was last used.
• Purchases: the course or membership bought and a scrambled (hashed) store transaction number, checked once with Apple or Google so that only buyers open paid lessons. We never see card details; Apple and Google handle payment.
• If you create an account: a scrambled form of your username (never the username itself), a password check derived from your passphrase (never the passphrase), and the encrypted copy of your answers, which only your passphrase can open.
• If you redeem a Skool enrollment code: which course it opened for your account.
• Short-lived request records (time and a scrambled device or account number) used to stop abuse and copying, deleted within a day.

Every lesson the server sends carries an invisible mark tied to the account or device that opened it, so that copied course material can be traced. The mark holds no personal information.

Sharing

We do not sell or share your information. Apple and Google process payments under their own privacy policies. The server is hosted by Hostinger.

Deleting your data

Delete your account and its encrypted copy in the app (Me > My account > Delete my account) or on the web at uglyducklingworkshops.com/app-delete. Deleting the app removes everything on the device. Purchases stay with your App Store or Google Play account and can be restored.

Children

The app is for adults (18 and over) and is not directed to children.
